Introduction CD EXTRA is a brand-new way of experiencing music. It is an audio CD which can be played in a traditional CD player, as well as an interactive multimedia CD-ROM. When placed in your CD-ROM drive, you can access the audio tracks and a multimedia experience. This CD is also a hybrid disc compatible with both Macintosh and Windows PC's. Minimum Requirements ¥ IBM compatible 486SX 25 MHz or faster ¥ 8 MB RAM ¥ Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher ¥ 640 x 480, 256-color (8 bit) display ¥ double speed or faster multi-session CD-ROM drive* with Enhanced CD compatible firmware ¥ 8 bit sound card *If you are unsure of your CD-ROM drive's capabilities, please contact your hardware manufacturer to verify that your drive contains Enhanced CD (Blue Book/Multi-session) compatible firmware. Playing your CD EXTRA Title Windows 3.1: ¥ Insert your CD EXTRA into your CD-ROM drive. ¥ Open the Windows File Manager and select your CD-ROM drive. ¥ Double click on the Setup31.exe file. ¥ The Setup procedure will copy all the necessary files to your C: drive in a folder named SonyOzzy. A Program Group will be set up and a "Ozzy Osbourne - The Ozzman Cometh" Program Item will also be set up on your computer. The Setup requires that you have 1 MB of free disk space on your hard drive. ¥ Double-click on "Ozzy Osbourne - The Ozzman Cometh" Program Item to start the CD EXTRA. Windows '95: ¥ After inserting the CD EXTRA in your CD-ROM drive a "Sony Music CD EXTRA" dialog box will appear. ¥ Click on "Install Title" in the dialog box to install the necessary files. ¥ Once installation is complete, start the title, by clicking on the "Start Title" button. ¥ If your computer is not set to "Autorun" the "Sony Music CD EXTRA" dialog box will not appear. Set your computer to Autorun or follow the directions for Windows 3.1 using setup95.exe instead of setup31.exe. ¥ You only need to perform the Installation prior to the first time you play the title. Each subsequent time you can simply click "Start Title" or "Play Music" to hear the audio tracks. Your Interactive Musical Experience Welcome to the "Ozzy Osbourne - The Ozzman Cometh" CD EXTRA. After a brief introduction, you'll have four options: online, music video, screenkiller, smash. Move your cursor to the edges of the screen to see the options. MUSIC VIDEO As Ozzy flips through different "channels" on his TV, click on the TV to see that full-length video. There are 5 full-length music videos. SMASH Your cursor becomes a mallet of destruction, click on the bones as they rise from the ground and smash them. SCREENKILLER This CDEXTRA can function as a screen saver, go to the screen killer section and check it out. You can download the screen saver off the disc onto your computer. Just look in the scrnkllr folder and look at the read me. ONLINE Go to the Ozzy Osbourne website through your CD EXTRA. Follow the instructions onscreen to go online. You can use your own browser to access the web. Troubleshooting: Getting Started 1. Did you follow the installation instructions? When the installation is complete, simply double click on the CD EXTRA icon displayed in the Sony CD EXTRA Program Group in your Windows Program Manager. 2. Make sure the CD is in your CD-ROM drive before starting your CD EXTRA title. Sound Problems 1. Is your volume turned up? Are your speakers plugged in? 2. Do you have a Sound Blaster compatible sound card that can handle 8-bit, 22K sound? Is it installed properly in Windows? Try using another piece of software to play sound within Windows. 3. If you have a mixing control panel, check that the levels are not set to zero. 4. Did you install Quicktime for Windows? If not, you can install it from the CD EXTRA by running the file D:/QTW_211/QTINSTAL.EXE where D represents your CD-ROM drive letter. Video problems 1. Did you install Quicktime for Windows? If not, you can install it from the CD EXTRA by running the file D:/QTW_211/QTINSTAL.EXE where D represents your CD-ROM drive letter. 2. Is your monitor set at 256 colors (8 bit color)? If not select the Windows Control Panel, click on the display tab for Windows 95 or the desktop icon for Windows 3.1 to change the monitor settings. Online problems 1. Do you have a direct connection to the Internet via modem, T1, ISDN line or other? If not, you will not be able to go online. 2. Make sure the browser you are using can connect to the Internet site outside of the CD EXTRA. Try launching your browser and opening the URL: "http://www.epiccenter.com/EpicCenter/docs/Ozzy/earthlink.html". If it does not work there, it will not work from within the title. 3. Make sure you have performed the CD EXTRA installation and are running the CD EXTRA from your hard drive. Otherwise, no information you supply the CD EXTRA as to the whereabouts of your browser will be saved. 4. If the CD Extra screen appears to freeze once you have gone online, you can unfreeze it by clicking anywhere on it. 5. For best results, use the latest version of a current browser such as Netscape Navigator 3.0 or Internet Explorer 3.0. 6. If you receive an error message when you try to go online you may not have enough free memory available. Make sure no other applications are open when you launch the CD EXTRA. 7. If your browser was open prior to your attempt to go online via the CD EXTRA, you may not be taken to the proper web page. In this case, enter the url as given above. 8. If you are still experiencing difficulty accessing the Ozzy Osbourne website from within the CD EXTRA, you can connect to it straight through your browser by setting the url to: "http://www.epiccenter.com/EpicCenter/docs/Ozzy/earthlink.html" Enhancing the performance of your CD EXTRA Turn off all other programs while you are running the Enhanced CD. This includes applications, clocks, screen savers and other software.
